Logotype Design & Identity

"The Last Bridge"

A few years ago I aided a bit in organising a seventh edition of a famous International Modlin Stronghold Airsoft Event, "Last Bridge".
A large event for few hundred men and women, with APC's, pyrotechnic, and lots of other cool stuff.
I was responsible mostly for the visual aspect of the operation.
A logotype was designed, banner campaign launched, on-line and in the press.
ID cards, posters, safety boards etc. ware created, as well as a promotional website.
I managed to create a solid, consequent feel of the upcoming game with focus on the scenario, which was concentrated arround battle over a bridge.

Weekend Warriors

The logo
"A well designed logotype must look good on any application, in micro and macro scale." - My teachers used to put pressure on this important fact. Today it appears that many designers ignore it, which causes problems later on.
Many others argue that the art of logo design itself is going down, when even decent and recognised logotypes (like Pepsi, Skoda or Gap) are being changed for worse.

While working on Weekend Warriors logotype, I had to make sure it will look good on any surface, online, in print, but also on patches, as a badge, a pin, etc.
The logo was supposed to be simple and recognisable, and have a military feel to it, but without going overboard.
It also had to be related to the previous logo and to be linked to the name.

The website
The right photograph in the right place can have a powerful impact on the brand image.
Most military-style websites display images of serious looking people armed to the teeth, in combat stances.

By choosing a photo of a few happy lads chilling over a grill after a nice game of Airsoft, I wanted to achieve following goals:
• To create an image that would really stand out from all the other airsoft & military related websites.
• To promote Airsoft as a friendly and fun sport, in contrast to how some politicians try to portray it.
• To introduce Weekend Warriors as the home of one of the oldest Polish Airsoft communities, with responsible, mature people.
